Promoting safe work environments is of key importance to the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce. That's why we're proud to have partnered with Clinton Memorial Hospital and the businesses of the Wilmington College Center for Sport Sciences (CSS) - Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine; Rohlfs Chiropractic Care; and Drayer Physical Therapy Institute - to bring you an "Occupational Health, Wellness, & Safety" Lunch & Learn series.
The series includes five weekly one-hour workshops on a range of topics to enhance the health, wellness, and safety of your employees, including creating safety working environments, steps to take when an accident does happen, injury and accident prevention, and much more.
Our fourth session is Thursday, August 4th, and the featured topic is "Wound Treatment for Workplace Injuries." Dr. Ronald Pedalino, general surgeon and Director of the Wound Treatment Center at CMH, and Jan Schumacher, a certified wound ostomy nurse, will discuss wound treatment for workplace injuries. They’ll cover costs and incidences of the average wound, immediate care for wounds at workplaces with and without on-site nurses or clinics, and how to proceed with non-healing wounds.
The Wound Treatment Center, located within Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, has been serving a 10+ county area for over 10 years. Our team includes experienced and dedicated staff, including Dr. Ronald Pedalino, our Medical Director, a general surgeon and certified wound specialist; Dr. John Mehnert, a podiatrist specializing in diabetic care and foot wounds; Dr. Brian Santin, a vascular and circulatory specialist; Jan Schumacher, an ostomy certified RN (WOCN); and our team of wound certified nurses. If you have swelling, pain, an unresolved surgical issue, a burn or radiation complication, or a scab, sore, or discolored area that hasn’t healed for thirty days, call our Wound Treatment Center for consultation at 937.283.9970. *No physician referral necessary. Self-referrals are accepted.
Safety is of utmost importance at all levels and these workshops will be targeted to businesses of all sizes - from 1 employee to 500. Workshops will be held in the Center for Sport Sciences on the Wilmington College Campus from Noon-1PM.
