Museum Open House & Exhibit Ribbon Cutting

As a result of a Wilmington College internship, graduating history major Mikaela Prescott worked alongside the staff of the History Center to develop an exhibit featuring the significant events and stories that occurred on these lands well before settlers arrived in the early 1800s. Native American tribes such as the Hopewell, Adena, and Fort Ancient people called the lands that we know as Clinton County home. Included in the new Native American heritage exhibit are a variety of arrowheads, tools and fossils, as well as a +10,000 year old mammoth tusk and photographs of indigenous Western tribes taken by Clinton Co. native Karl Moon in the early 1900s. 

The Clinton County History Center is located at 149 E. Locust St. in Wilmington Ohio. The mid-1800's historic house structure, once belonging to General James W. Denver and his wife Louise Rombach Denver, is home to both the Genealogical Society and Historical Society's museum. The museum contains two full floors of touring rooms featuring the history of the Clinton County region and its people. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, the Center relies on memberships, donations, and community events to continue their mission of encouraging community involvement in the preservation, education, and promotion of Clinton County history and genealogy.
